DETAILED GUIDE TO THE FESTIVAL

GRAND FESTIVAL LAUNCH
GRAND GEORGIAN COSTUMED PROMENADE
10.00am – 11.45am
After such a resounding success last year our Promenade will feature an extended route to take in even more of the elegant backdrop of our World Heritage City. Starting at the magnificent Guildhall stroll with us, in all your Georgian finery to the elegant Royal Crescent Hotel for refreshments. Saunter back through the famous floral displays in Victoria Park, or take a turn in the horse drawn carriage. This event is free to anyone in costume, but you will need to register for your voucher for refreshments, to be collected on the day.

10.00am -5.30pm every day
Jane Austen LogoLive introductory talks every 20 minutes by experienced guides. A detailed and attractively presented exhibition celebrating Jane Austen’s time in Bath. Browse in our well-stocked shop and buy a reminder of the Festival.
Sample the delights in our new Regency Tea rooms, open for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.
Tickets: Adults £5.95 no booking necessary.
HONOURS OF THE TABLE
Saturday 17th afternoon only, special Festival talks:
11.00am – 12.30.approx
John White, in the guise of ‘Mr Adams ‘ (an early 19th century butler) will demonstrate setting a table for dinner in the grand Georgian style. Using a vast array of contemporary items, you will observe the intricacies of the art of dining as practised by the nobility. Free with a Jane Austen Centre entry ticket.
JANE AUSTEN’S BATH – Walking Tour
11.00pm – 12.30pm
Jane Austen Walking TourLet our expert guides take you where Jane lived, walked, visited and shopped. See the places made famous in her two Bath novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Meet and purchase tickets from KC Change in Abbey Churchyard.
Tickets: Adults £4.50 Conc. £3.50.
COSTUME PHOTOGRAPHY

Capture the moment!
Turn yourself into Lizzie Bennet or Mr Darcy! Take a photo in Georgian costume in an elegant Regency setting. Arrive in your own finery or choose from a wide selection of our costumes. Glenys Hale, our costume advisor will to on hand. Please bring your own camera.

QUILL WRITING WORKSHOP
11.00am – 4.00pm
PostcardTry your hand at writing like Jane Austen. Come and see our original 18th century ‘crossed’ letter and try writing your own. Then seal your letter with a real wax seal. A great activity for both children and adults. The ticket includes entry to the Postal Museum where the world’s first postage stamp was used. Venue: Bath Postal Museum Broad St.
